Changing your oil. Sounds difficult but is actually fairly easy. But I warn you, it is messy! Before you start, you need the following:

-Oil (check your manual for oil type) 5L standard amount

-oil filter (when you buy it, an employee should be able to tell you what size)

-floor jack and jack stands or access to a lift

-a creeper (optional)

-socket wrench and socket set

-oil spill pan

-funnel

The first step: (A) If using lift: lift car up to above head level if possible. (B) If using jack and jack stands: jack car up (frames and axles work for lift points). Then, place jack stands on each side of car, then repeat for other end.

Next, go under car and look for oil pan, located near engine compartment. Find oil plug (a bolt on pan) loosen this bolt with appropriate socket. Once, loosened, place spill pan under the plug and remove plug by hand. Allow oil to pour out. This may take several minutes.

After the oil pan is empty, replace the plug. Move the spill pan to under the filter (located near oil pan). Filter should be able to be loosened by hand. Let oil spill out. Screw the new filter until it is hand tight.

Lower car to the ground. Pop the hood and pour in oil. Many people also check their other fluids at this time. Run the car for a couple minutes, then check oil level. If it is good, you have no leaks and preformed a successful oil change.
